Remembering

In the middle of dawn I remain awake
Rummaging through keepsakes and memories
Reminded of moments that passed through time
Those not forgotten and erased
Just hidden in a treasure box to be kept safe

Oceans and different directions
Creating gaps between confidants
However only physical and geographical
Invisible strings of the soul remain
Continuing the tangle and bond maintained

The times may gradually change us
Each thought may wander where ever
But once in a while a soft nudge
Heartstrings pulled back to reminisce, to recollect
And realizing friendships pure and true we hold still

Adrift

The scorching heat cruel from skin to bones
But the crystal blue water calls
Digging toes through the powdery sand

Approaching the crash of the waves
Freedom felt as I glide through
Holding breath with wide open eyes

In the salty fluid of the ocean
I felt more free and welcome
Blissful moments worthy to keep

Floating, memorizing every cloud
Swimming and savouring the feeling
In this precious drift is where I long to be

Lynette

Left a mark upon each heart you touched
The time may have been short
But all moments worthwhile

You will not be forgotten
For a part of the stars you will become
Watching over those you care for and love

Your strength and passion
Your heart of gold
Remains evermore an inspiration

You may no longer be perceived by the eyes
Nor by flesh be sensed
But your memory lingers incessantly

Farewell, my dear
To the clouds and heavens above
Your ship shall sail safe and sound

Choice Makes the Man

Solemn and quiet sessions
Experimental and vile
Associating him to be good
But goodness is a choice
And not to be induced.

Violence runs through his veins
Must be controlled
For it is a menace
But goodness is a choice
And not to be induced.

A mind filled of malice
Naturally maleficent
Inclined to be offensive
But goodness is a choice
And not to be induced.

Time has progressed
And so has his age
An enlightenment struck
He chose to be good
And he was not induced.

Dumaguete Love

I always come back to this city as much as I can. It has a certain air which makes me feel that I am home. Spent 5 years of my life there for college and review. I don't know what I could have been if I haven't spent those precious years in the City of gentle people. Met a lot of good friends and acquaintances in the different experiences I had.
Dumaguete is a small city in the heart of Negros Oriental. It might seem like a regular and simple town but when you get to immerse yourself in the city, you'll come to appreciate its warmth and awesomeness. It always seem to welcome me with open arms when I come around for a visit. Maybe it's about the atmosphere or maybe about the people-- the friends I've made or maybe about the memories made when I used to live there. I don't have to dig deeper to know why, the important thing is I just love the place.
As this one guy said, "nothing beats Dumaguete" and I totally agree with him. Indeed, nothing beats Dumaguete.

Pedal Experience

Early Saturday morning. The sun is still close to the horizon and the heat is yet to sting for a few hours later. Perfect time to pedal on the bike. Checking each tire, pinching them for enough air. Pushing the bike forward, pressing the brakes and finding they're stopping good. Stretching my limbs for some warmup before I settle myself on the saddle to take off on a ride around the city.
Off I go. Feeling the breeze on my skin and letting my hair float back behind my head. Going on bike rides is something fulfilling. It's like a daily routine that I have to complete in order to survive.
My thigh muscles contract as the slope gets a bit higher but i don't complain. Instead, I pedal more to reach where I should go. The sweat has dampened my back and trickling down my temples. I just wipe them away and get a feeling of satisfaction that I did ride my bike today.
I make full stops for rest and to savor the view. And when my analogue camera is loaded, I take it along with me so I can take pictures of my bike stops. Realizing I can go places without spending on gas and at the same time giving my muscles some activity and not contributing any to climate change.
There's a certain feeling of freedom that I can't seem to put to words in detail. For a second there I knew the world has invented something good.

Road to Nothing

Astounding memories
Sewn together to form your story
Make it known that you exist

Nameless and faceless
You struggle to find friends
But they look away and ignore

Running to your escape
But that door closed
Just when you reached the knob

A wreck and a reject
Nobody wants you around
You don’t even like yourself

Look back at the memory
It used to be your world
But you let it go for something new

Now regret has overtaken
The expectations were wrong
You are nothing anymore.

The Daydreamer

Fluid movements of my consciousness
Dizzy and lightheaded
I float into the void
My own space where I can drift

Sliding slow and smoothly
Whispers of random secrets
Travel through my senses
They’ll be kept safe with me

Running to that unreachable stop
A cycle of never-ending ambition
Yet I stumble upon another love
Discontinued; another start

Blinking in this blur
Haze and mist be gone
I cannot clearly envision the path
Walk on even in confusion

Halt
Now I’m in a standstill
I came to a realization
In between sleep and wakefulness

Eyes wide open
Daylight glared through
Reality grasped me tighter
Telling me it’s the day… it is the day.
