Bec Winnel

Having followed the blog Daydream Lily, I found out about an exceptional artist Bec Winnel. There are actually a great deal of things to discover and following blogs allows me to get aware about a lot of stuff. *wink*

I'm struck by the delicate elegance of Bec's artistry. Her female subjects appear to be elements of a dream. The soft tones, fine lines, and flowy strokes help create a mysterious feel. Each face depicted in her pieces represent the gentle beauty and refined countenance of a woman.

Bec celebrates the charm and grace of women in her artworks. She is doing a remarkable job of elevating the essence of female beauty. Her impressive skill in precise illustration is worthy of the number of awards she garnered. It's no surprise when she climbs higher in the ladder of art's hall of fame.

I definitely admire her talent and art. Having a Bec Winnel piece in my possession one of these days is a lovely thought to ponder on.

The Ocean at the End of the Lane

I've been eyeing this book since I heard that Neil Gaiman released his latest novel. Lo and behold, L gave me a copy as his Christmas present (the bookworm's eyes where sparkling upon opening the gift). I was the happiest person when I received it. Now it's a part of my collection adding more pizzazz to my shelf. *grins*

The Ocean at the End of the Lane is about a man returning to his hometown and reminiscing an experience he thought he almost forgot. Going to the farmhouse of the Hempstocks after attending a funeral, he visits the pond that his friend, Lettie, calls her ocean. It's just a pond really. But that body of water holds something beyond what anyone can imagine. As he lingers, memories of that place emerge from the depths of his consciousness. These recollections even surprise him. As the events reconstruct in his mind, he later realize that he owes his life to the Hempstocks; to Lettie especially-- his only childhood friend when he was still a little seven year old boy.

As expected, Neil delivered... delivered extremely well. I knew that I wouldn't be disappointed-- of course, he's Neil Gaiman. Come on... To cut to the chase, yes it's a book that should be read. It's a few pages but within is a story bountiful of stirring ordeals and bizarre characters. When I was done, I felt like I still wanted the tale to go on but I later came to terms with the book and accepted that it was meant to end there. I fell in love with Lettie's character, that's probably why I reacted that way. That's about it; I enjoyed every chapter, every page and I'm sure you will too. I repeat, it's Neil Gaiman... remember? *wink*

I'm a grateful bibliophile for having started the year right with an A-lister book. 

People being People

Surprisingly, people are entertaining to watch by simply living their lives. It's interesting how we find someone across the street without even knowing why our attention was caught. Everyone has a story to tell because life is like a book with challenging and thrilling chapters or dragging and dull moments. People everywhere from different walks of life make this world a beguiling place.

Red Mango

I can never get enough of thrift shops. When I get the chance to drop by, I just look around mostly to kill time but it turns out that I find a piece or two to add in my wardrobe. It's almost an addiction. Oh man... but it's kind of fun. Really!

Here's another find from the thrift shop, a red Mango jumper dress. The bold bright color makes it a daring piece despite the simplicity of the design.

The Buzzz Cafe

The Buzzz Cafe is one of Bohol's pride when it comes to gastronomic adventure. They offer an array of organic food and most of the ingredients used in their menu comes straight from their garden at the main resort Bohol Bee Farm.

Every time I have friends from other places who come to visit Bohol, I would always recommend a bite to eat at this place and ask "Have you eaten Bougainvillea?".  Ordering their garden salad is a chance to eat flowers; who says flowers are only for display? The vinaigrette is to die for. It's so good that I could drink it on its own. Haha. Anyway, what's great is you can bring home a bottle of it if you'd like this delicious dressing in your daily salad. They also sell honey, spreads, tea, bread, tableya (cocoa rounds) to name a few.

Don't ever leave without trying their organic ice cream (Malunggay, Guyabano, and Spicy Ginger flavours are worth trying) and ask the waiter to serve it in the Cab-cab cone to complete the Buzzz Cafe ice cream experience.

To pair the scrumptious food is the distinct warm and homey ambiance with a countryside cottage feel.

My favorite -- Vegetarian Pasta -- gives me a BIG smile
