They say wear polka dots on a new year for monetary luck

There's this popular belief that polka dots on new year's day bring luck with regards to money. From where I am, there are so many of these folklores. But really, I'm just wearing these dots because I like them and the new year has long passed.

My cousin brought up this topic when we met while I was wearing this ensemble that's why it came to me that I should use it for the title. Oh, man! Once again, not only am I the worst at picking backgrounds, I'm the worst at making titles too. Haha.

Michael Carson

American artist Michael Carson integrates his love for fashion, architecture, and design in his paintings. As a figurative artist, he likes to depict stories in his works. You'll find his subjects in familiar settings like bars, cafes, and intimate parts of the home. How Michael emphasizes the relationship of light and colors and his brush strokes create drama in each of his pieces. Despite similarities in his subjects, every artwork he makes have a different story.

I like the subtlety of his works. The figures bring out a familiar scenario but will make the viewer's curious of other underlying tales beyond the painting.

Sun Glare

Once in a while I like to take pictures of the glaring sun. They say it's a no-no. What the hell, I'll take a picture of the sun glare if I want to and no rule can stop me. Hahaha. Besides, that strong light and circles are kinda cool.

Burgers! Burgers! Burgers!

Finally, a burger joint in my city with a delicious variety in their menu. Aside from that you can also order some pizza, appetizers (e.g. squid calamari, onion rings), shakes, and coffee.

The burger comes with your choice of side dish, either french fries or onion rings, and drinks (beer, juice, or iced tea). You'll be full in no time. Their food is scrumptious and appetizing, it's worth the price and wait.

Bacon and Cheese Burger

Cranberry Juice

Squid Calamari

Cheesecake

When you're done munching on the burger, ask what dessert they have in stock (they don't have it in the menu). If they happen to have the cheesecake from New York available, you should try it. I swear, it's delicious.

I commend not only the good taste of their food but the service as well. The staff is welcoming and friendly you'd feel right at home.

Don't forget to ask for their worldwide burger tour card. Every time you come over order any of the burgers in the card. Once you've completed tasting each, you can order any of their burger for free. Sounds good? Yep, sounds real good.

PS. My apologies for the bad pictures. They do not justify the food since they're not as appetizing as they should be (blame it on the camera haha).

Kirsten Dunst

Source: www.fora.mtv.ca

You can never go wrong with simple and classic style. Kirsten Dunst is masterful in putting together basic casual looks and her red carpet choices are elegant and sophisticated.

I admire how she dresses herself. Despite the simplicity of her ensembles, style is not sacrificed. She looks well-put and comfortable at the same time. Her feminine and timeless fashion makes her one of my favorite celebrity style icons. I'd love to remake any of her looks; they're so wearable and chic.

Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World

When it comes to surreal reading, I look no further and just grab a Haruki Murakami book. I love his writings. As you progress chapter after chapter, you are soon absorbed into a different dimension where cats talk, a sheep is the boss, and shadows have their own mind. And all these strangeness and weirdness go on and on. But guess what, it's a good kind of weird.

Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World is my latest Haruki read. My pace with this book was downtempo so I wouldn't be left alone with nothing to read and I was enjoying it so much I didn't want it to end right away. Besides, unearthing the end of the world bit by bit and day after day was a pleasurable pursuit. I was thrilling myself by slow-pacing my reading. Haha.

The story takes you into two divergent worlds. One where the main character meets a mad scientist and he experiences adventures underground where water and leeches and inklings could claim his life any time soon. On the other side is a town close to perfection barricaded by an impenetrable wall whose gates are regulated by a Gatekeeper who never let's anyone out. The one thing these two worlds have in common--- skulls.

This book is striking, funny, unexpected, and bizarre. Plus the characters are interesting (he always comes up with curious personalities which is one of the things I love about this author). Of course, you'll never miss insightful lines along the way which are good points to ponder on.

If you have a thing for uncanny plots, then you should grab this from the shelf (you won't be disappointed I promise). Better yet, collect all Haruki books and read them one after the other. I bet you'll be amazed afterwards. You can say, I've been to the other side (I actually feel this way after reading his books).

What are you waiting for? It's happy reading time! ;]

Photo Inspiration: Yummy Breakfast

It's waaay past breakfast but I just came from a deliberation with myself as to which meal of the day I prefer. And... the winner is... BREAKFAST! I realized that I really love breakfast. There's a happy element to it. Somehow a thanksgiving banquet for another day. Yup! It's official, breakfast is my favorite meal of the day.

What's yours?
